Melissa Srb

Omaha-based Harpist

Early Beginnings

Melissa from a very early age was always involved in music. In school, she had originally played the violin. However, her mother noticed that she plucked the violin more than bowing it, and began looking at learning how to play the harp.

After a difficult initial search for a teacher and a harp, she finally started lessons. She committed to practicing three hours every day that first summer.  By the end of the summer, she knew that playing the harp was something she wanted to do for the rest of her life.

Education and Experience

Melissa received a Bachelor's in Music Education from the University of Nebraska- Lincoln and is currently working on a Master’s in Music Education at the same university. Since then, Melissa has had many performance opportunities including: University of Nebraska Lincoln Symphony Orchestra, Lincoln Youth Symphony, Hastings Symphony Orchestra, All-State Orchestra, America's Honor Orchestra, along with many other special events, weddings, and parties.

Today

Melissa currently teaches middle school orchestra in Omaha Public Schools. Here, she continues to inspire students about music. In her spare time, Melissa teaches students to play harp privately, as well as bringing the elegance of the harp to weddings and other events.
